ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: To identify risk factors for SARS-CoV-2 infection among healthcare workers. METHODS: Integrative literature review. Searched the databases Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System on-line, Scopus, Web of science, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, Nursing Database, and Index Bibliográfico Español en Ciencias de la Salud. The root of the search strategy was drawn from Medline/PubMed. Original articles were included that had as target population health professionals working in care and had as outcome the factors that contributed to the infection. The survey took place between September and October 2020. RESULTS: Fourteen articles were included. The main risk factors identified were: non-use or inadequate use of Personal Protection Equipment, contact with COVID-19 inpatients and other professionals, lack of distance, prolonged exposure time, performing procedures involving airways and presence of comorbidities. CONCLUSION: Risk factors are related to the protection mechanisms adopted, higher exposure to infected people and procedures performed, exposure time and low adherence to infection prevention recommendations
