ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: To describe the sociodemographic profile of deaths from malnutrition in Brazil between 2010 and 2020. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is an ecological cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative approach carried out through the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS), with data from 2010 to 2020 from the Mortality Information System (SIM), with selected sociodemographic variables, cause of death and outcome, the latter referring to the place of occurrence. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: 45,632 deaths from malnutrition were recorded, with an average number of deaths per year of 4,148 deaths. Of the deaths recorded, 51% are male, 47.44% are white, followed by brown with 41.32%, and 86.33% of the total number of cases occurred with the elderly. When analyzing the level of education, an inversely proportional relationship is observed between the number of deaths due to malnutrition and the level of education of individuals, given that the longer the study period, the lower the number of deaths. CONCLUSION: It is observed that most deaths from malnutrition occurred among men and the elderly, with divorced individuals and among those with a low level of education.
