ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: To identify the challenges faced by Nursing in the management of Primary Health Care services. METHODS: This is an integrative literature review. The elaboration of the research problem was anchored in the PICo strategy: “What are the challenges of the nurse manager in Primary Health Care services?”. The search for studies already carried out on the subject occurred through the databases of the Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), using the Base de Dados de Enfermagem (BDENF), Literatura Latino Americana em Ciência de Saúde(LILACS) and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE).RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Among the obstacles highlighted are: difficulty inexercising management and care functions concurrently; interpersonal relationships of the multidisciplinary team; lack of specific technical and theoretical knowledge and skills inmanagement; activities and difficulties in carrying out shared management and insufficient supply of inputs, equipment and human resources necessary for the unit. FINALCONSIDERATIONS: The need for the development of continuing education within the scope of management was evident, especially when it is of a public nature and involving Primary Health Care, once the importance of the gateway to health services is known.
