ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: To report the experience of immunization management by the vaccination coordinator during the COVID-19 campaign in a municipality in Northeastern Brazil. METHODS: This is an experience report with a qualitative approach, conducted from January 2021 to August 2022 in the municipality of Barão de Grajaú, in the state of Maranhão. As this is an experience report, approval by a Research Ethics Committee was not required. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Three thematic categories were identified: Management of vaccine receipt; Planning and organization of vaccination actions; and Performance in the COVID-19 vaccination campaign. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: It was evident that the municipal immunization coordinator needs to work in partnership with nursing professionals and Community Health Agents from Primary Health Units in the operationalization of vaccination campaigns, whether for COVID-19 or others, from planning to execution.
