ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: To analyze the epidemiological profile and spatial distribution of HIV/tuberculosis (TB) coinfection in the state of Piauí, Brazil, from 2016 to 2023. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Descriptive and retrospective study with a quantitative approach, based on data from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) on HIV/TB coinfection in Piauí from 2016 to 2023. Sociodemographic and clinical variables were analyzed using Excel software for descriptive analyses and Tabwin for spatial distribution. RESULTS: The cases varied over the period from 2016 to 2023, with reductions and increases in different years, highlighting consistent growth from 2021 onwards, culminating in a peak in 2023. The epidemiological profile showed a predominance of men (75.6%), aged 20 to 39 years (51.0%), and a higher occurrence among brown-skinned people (72.1%). The pulmonary form was more common (69.3%), the cure rate was 37%, abandonment was 9.4%, and deaths were 23.5%, mainly among men. Teresina had the highest number of cases (54.5%). CONCLUSION: Annual variations were observed, with an increase in cases in 2023 and a concentration in urban areas. The predominance of young men and the high treatment abandonment rate indicate the need for public policies focused on vulnerable groups.
