ABSTRACT: To carry out a systematic literature review, addressing the main etiologies, diagnosis and treatment of retinoblastoma in children. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Systematic literature review with bibliographic collection in the Lilacs (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences) and PubMed (National Library of Medicine) databases, focusing on the topic of retinoblastoma. The search used the descriptors " retinoblastoma" , " diagnosis" , " pathology" and " treatment" . Articles published in the last 5 years were selected. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Retinoblastoma is often identified by signs such as leukocoria and strabismus. The main objective is to control the tumor, preserve vision and prevent the spread of the disease. The treatment plan is individualized, taking into account the stage of the tumor, the presence of metastases, the location and size of the tumor, as well as specific risk factors. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: Adequate treatment of retinoblastoma is extremely important due to possible serious complications, which can lead to loss of vision, metastatic spread and risk to life. Early detection and timely treatment are critical to maximizing the chances of success, preserving vision, and improving the quality of life for patients affected by retinoblastoma.
