ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: To identify hemodynamic changes related to bed bath in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) according to the scientific literature. METHODS: This is a narrative review of the literature, with the aim of promoting an analysis of the proposed theme. It was carried out in September and October 2022, using the Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences database (LILACS). RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: It is noteworthy that before being submitted to a bed bath, patients must be evaluated by the nurse, taking into account their clinical, hemodynamic and psychosocial stability. The vast majority of patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit experience discomfort, isolation and loss of privacy. This is due to the need for attention to comfort and hygiene, as well as the change in mobility observed during hospitalization. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: Although the temperature change during the procedure has returned to its basal value minutes after the bath, it should not be ignored, and measures must be implemented to minimize its effects. Emphasizing the need for a clinical evaluation of patients before and during the procedure, hemodynamic monitoring is important when performing the bed bath for a safer practice.
