ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: To identify in the literature the possible risk factors for the emergence of pressure injuries in critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. METHODS: This is an integrative review of the literature, in scientific publications from 2017 to 2022. Data were collected from the following databases: SciELO, PubMed, and BVS, using the descriptors in English and Portuguese: pressure ulcer; intensive care units; risk factors and critical care. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Eleven articles were used in this review, where the studies corroborated that the main risk factors for LLP are: prolonged hospitalization, immobility, use of drugs, medical device, malnutrition, incontinence, advanced age, comorbidities and shear force. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: Therefore, it is necessary for the multidisciplinary team to be aligned to carry out preventive strategies, monitor the risks of each patient, identify susceptible patients early and minimize complications.
