ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: To investigate the interfaces between breastfeeding and child nutrition from the nurse' s perspective. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a narrative review, carried out by searching the databases of the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), National Institutes of Health' s National Library of Medicine (PubMed) and Virtual Health Library of the Ministry of Health (BVS), using the Boolean operator “AND” and/or “OR” with the descriptors in the first half of 2024. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: A total of 144 articles were found in the period selected for the research. After inclusion and/or exclusion criteria, primary analysis and full reading, 8 works remained for the composition of this research. Based on this survey, it was possible to observe the importance of the nursing profession in breastfeeding and gradual and healthy introduction of foods in early childhood, standing out as essential members of the health team to provide information, education and support during this period. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: The importance of breastfeeding and the introduction of complementary foods for the healthy development of children was reinforced, highlighting the role of nursing in this process. Adequate support from nurses and the use of educational technologies are essential, although there are still challenges in universal access to these practices.
