ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: Understand the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on elderly people with clinical frailty. METHODS: The collection of bibliographic data was carried out in articles from the years 2020-2021, in the SciELO virtual library and in the PubMed and Academic Google databases, with the descriptors: Coronavirus Infection, Frailty, Assistance to the Elderly and Frail Elderly; and equivalents in English. 1007 articles were found, of which 30 met the inclusion criteria. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, elderly people considered fragile, that is, who have the so-called frailty syndrome, are more exposed to serious complications when infected with the new coronavirus. Recognizing the frailty syndrome is essential to identify elderly people with a higher risk of serious complications from the disease. Therefore, the frailty syndrome predisposes the elderly to more serious losses due to infection by Sars-Cov-2. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: It was found that the COVID-19 pandemic seriously impacts elderly people who are frail, and the condition has been associated with an increased risk of serious progression of the virus infection.
