ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: To understand the praxis of Psychology in public health policies, explaining the clinical aspects in these spaces. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a qualitative article, in which a narrative literature review was chosen as the data collection method. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: It is noteworthy that the role of psychology in the SUS is associated with activities that refer to various forms of interventions, and may include individual care, home visits, referrals to the service network, screening, guidance, evaluation and monitoring, intervention groups, therapeutic groups, workshops and others. The role of the psychologist in carrying out the actions of the Family Health Strategy involves networking with the articulation of services and the team' s matrix. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: Therefore, there are difficulties in acting in public policies, as the norms inserted in these spaces seem to limit the praxis of psychology. Despite this, it is understood that it is not possible to build or deconstruct these processes only through conflict, but to create forms based on what is given, because psychology is a place of invention, and only in this way can you transform and fight for more democratic and less technocratic praxis.
