ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: To identify the importance of respiratory physiotherapy in the treatment of Acute Viral Bronchiolitis in all stages of the disease in pediatric patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a narrative review that describes the management that respiratory physiotherapy can provide in the treatment of Acute Viral Bronchiolitis in pediatrics. Inclusion criteria were: those published in Science Direct, Pubmed and Profisio between 2000 and 2021, describing the performance of evidence-based respiratory physiotherapy. Exclusion criteria: publications that did not meet the eligibility criteria such as: physiotherapy associated with other treatment strategies, physiotherapy in adults or that did not mention respiratory techniques in pediatrics. A total of 25 articles were preselected, and 2 were excluded, which did not meet the criteria. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Some findings in the literature show that the use of physiotherapy techniques classified as non-conventional have proven effective in clinical practice, especially in hospitalized patients. On the other hand, the challenges in indicating techniques according to phases (acute, subacute or chronic) is a reason for questioning and discussion among other professional categories, who often indicate respiratory physiotherapy regardless of the phase of the disease, justifying that it will not bring benefits to the patient. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: Although respiratory physiotherapy is not often indicated, it is an excellent aid in the treatment of Acute Viral Bronchiolitis.
