ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: To analyze the Brazilian scientific production on mental health in Primary Health Care, identifying its main thematic axes and knowledge gaps. METHOD: Narrative review complemented by bibliometric analysis of word co-occurrence using the VOSviewer software. Searches were conducted in the Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Scientific Electronic Library Online, CAPES Periodicals Portal, and Google Scholar databases, resulting in a final document corpus of 25 original articles. RESULTS: The literature is organized into three main clusters. The red cluster addresses the organization of care and the structural challenges for the provision of care in the Family Health Strategy. The green cluster focuses on the psychosocial dimensions of illness, emphasizing community approaches, interpersonal relationships, and coping with stigma. The blue cluster highlights the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on emerging symptoms and the adolescent population. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: The scientific production presents an integrated structure that articulates the organization of services with the clinical and psychosocial needs of users. Overcoming the biomedical paradigm, interprofessional qualification, and the structural strengthening of the Psychosocial Care Network emerge as crucial requirements for the consolidation of equitable and resolutive care.
