CUIDADO FARMACÊUTICO NA DENGUE: SEGURANÇA, MANEJO FARMACOTERAPÊUTICO E ACOMPANHAMENTO CLÍNICO

ABSTRACT: OBJECTIVE: To critically analyze the contribution of pharmaceutical care to safety, pharmacotherapeutic management, and
clinical follow-up of people with dengue, considering its integration into the multidisciplinary team. METHODS: Narrative,
descriptive, and analytical review based on searches in PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, SciELO, and LILACS, without date
restrictions. Scientific articles and technical documents relevant to clinical management, pharmacotherapy, patient safety,
follow-up, and health education were included. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Pharmacists contribute through medication
review, prevention of self-medication and contraindicated drug use, counseling on symptomatic therapies, monitoring of
drug-related problems, medication reconciliation, health education, and recognition of warning signs. Vulnerable groups and
patients using higher-risk medications require greater attention. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: Pharmacists contribute to
medication safety and continuity of care; however, their role is complementary and must remain within legal professional
competencies, integrated with medical assessment and multidisciplinary care. Undergraduate training and continuing
education in tropical diseases are essential to strengthen this practice.
